Much of Stone Islands creative reputation has come from its experimental offshoot line; Shadow Project. The Shadow project line is designed by German engineer Errolson Hugh of ACRONYM along with the notorious founder and head designer of Stone Island Carlo Rivetti.
In an interview with Highsnobiety in 2018 Creative Director and founder of Stone Island, Carlo Rivetti describes how he was inspired to create the Stone Island Shadow Project line.
He continued when asking about naming the brand “We came up with the name ‘Shadow Project’ over dinner,” Rivetti says. “The idea is that the line exists because of Stone Island, so it’s a shadow of the brand, but with its own life.
Rivetti was impressed by Errolson Hughs design background and his technical abilities helped to drive the creative team. The technology in fabric has come so far in recent times has begun to attract an altogether new type of customer to the brand. Now more fashion-focussed and savvy men are buying into the brand from the unique and diverse innovations of the Stone Island Shadow Project Line.
