Fendi Fall 2019 – The Collection For Collectors

Fendi Roma. The Roman family fashion house usually front lined by Silvia Venturini Fendi collaborated with Largerfeld for their A/W 2019 collection. The infamous ‘F’ logo and monster eye streetwear which has led the fashion house to become one of the ‘it’ brands of the era has been quietly swept under the carpet for a more classic and tailored collection.

Fendi Roma’s Autumn Winter 2019 collection favours a more streamlined and formal dialogue, pushing a palette of signature neutral tones of Fendi brown, beige, taupe and black. Lagerfeld’s iconic delicate yet sharp touches are seen throughout the collection in handwritten notes and illustrations shared between Lagerfeld’s Paris based fashion house, and Fendi’s design headquarters in Rome. We see many of Lagerfeld’s iconic pieces in the form of silk shirts and trench coats.
 

In a recent interview with Vogue Magazine, Silvia Venturini Fendi described ‘dualism’ as the longstanding DNA of the Fendi fashion house. She describes how one of Karl Lagerfeld’s early sketches of a tailored jacket with a half shawl collar and half lapel has the perfect mix of futurism and timelessly classic design which is what Fendi was built upon. The mixture of glossy sheer materials combined with the classic matte finish of the iconic neutral colour palette of Fendi helped to perfect this style.

The tailored pieces from Fendi’s Autumn Winter 2019 collection are exceptionally rare due to the signature influence with the late fashion icon who is Karl Lagerfeld. Some of these rare pieces are sure to be collectables as one of Largerfeld’s last fashion signatures before his sudden passing.
